Maybe I don't understand, but I don't see how Copenhagen even theoretically can fit into a zig-zag Frederikshavn - Odense - Ringsted - Rødby - Puttgarden - Hamburg - Berlin itinerary.

If it's written in the ticket?

The "Old city" in Aarhus.

If it's written in the ticket?
I thought that the conditions say that it has to be the shortest route. Which means changing trains at Ringsted, short of Copenhagen.

Johanness, those conditions apply only if ticket dosn't have explicitly written intermediate points in VIA. If it have - you simply follow to what is written in the ticket.

Все саме так, як Ви й написали.

Exactly! The VIA section of the Danish part looks like: <1186>(Ringsted/Koebenhavn H)*Puttgarden(MS)<1080>…

I am just amazed that one can travel so (relatively) cheap from Frederikshavn to Berlin - even via Copenhagen.
Even the Frederikshavn - Copenhagen cost ~50% more on a regular ticket (kr. 453,-).

Also with 4 days validity period (which, as you probably know, used to be 15 days till this year).

Well, that's a lot (even more expensive than a regular NRT ticket for the same distance). But on the other hand they provide early-bird Orange tickets for domestic journeys. It looks similar to DB model, doesn't it?

Looking at the frequency of train departures between Aarhus and Copenhagen, I assume the train should not be fully packed in the middle of weekday. Or should I consider buying seat reservations?

You were right in your assumption. How was the journey?
